Promises. “The train ordinance will lead to the “reduction of expenses by 19 billion lei”


Marcel Ciolacu coordinated, on Saturday, the consultations on the preparation of social and economic measures and the budget package for the year 2025, which took place at the meeting of the Tripartite National Council for Social Dialogue, held at the Victoria Palace, a Government release informed.

According to the quoted source, for the foundation of the consolidated general budget for 2025, the Government will approve, through an emergency ordinance, fiscal-budgetary measures for the efficiency of state expenses and the reduction of the budget deficit. The fiscal-budgetary measures will have the impact of reducing budget expenditures by 19 billion lei, equivalent to 1% of the Gross Domestic Product, the Government announced.

“At the level of the Government, we have undertaken to ensure economic stability and manage the country’s resources with responsibility. We will continue to put emphasis on improving the quality of people’s lives, especially those with low incomes, and on supporting investments, while maintaining a rigorous control over public spending”, said the Prime Minister, quoted in the press release.

According to the head of the Executive, during the year 2024, approximately 69 billion lei – respectively 3.92% of the GDP – represent essential investments and expenses, such as those with salary increases in the budgetary sector – in the health system, education, defense, increasing pensions, payments for capping energy prices, health expenses, subsidies for public transport, etc.

The employers’ representatives considered necessary the measures to limit the state’s expenses and appreciated that a major and urgent effort to combat tax evasion is needed, according to the quoted statement.

The meeting with representatives of employers and unions was attended by the Government, along with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, Deputy Prime Minister Marian Neacşu, Minister of Finance, Deputy Prime Minister Tanczos Barna, Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Bogdan Ivan, Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Florin Barbu, Minister of European Investments and Projects, Marcel Boloş, Minister of Education and Research, Daniel-Ovidiu David, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emil Hurezeanu, Minister of Environment, Waters and Forests, Mircea Fechet, Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila.
