Under the motto ‘Prompting the Future’ we will show how visitors can recognize and use the opportunities and possibilities of artificial intelligence and integrate them into their business model. AI will run through DMEXCO like a base layer.

What the industry expects from DMEXCO 2024

Another issue that is currently keeping the industry very busy is Google’s turnaround on third-party cookies. Daniel VolozCountry Manager DACH at RTB House, is looking forward to the discussions on the development at DMEXCO:

DMEXCO 2024 is just around the corner and third-party cookies are still here – and will probably stay that way in the long term. According to Google, the decision should now be left to the users whether or not to allow these cookies. However, this does not mean a return to the status quo or a halt to the further development of the Privacy Sandbox. With a focus on the diverse possibilities and opportunities of digital technologies, the Privacy Sandbox will certainly be one of the predominant topics in Cologne after Google’s announcement. We are excited to see what conversations and discussions will be held at DMEXCO this year on the subject of Google and privacy and are sure that a lot of it will again revolve around the topic of AI.

Also Michael FuhrmannRVP DACH and CEE at DoubleVerify, sees AI as a central theme of this year’s DMEXCO – and also emphasizes the challenges that the use of artificial intelligence brings for the industry:

We at DoubleVerify are looking forward to this year’s DMEXCO under the motto “Prompting the Future” with great interest. The use of disruptive technologies, especially artificial intelligence, opens up numerous opportunities for the industry, such as in the optimization of advertising campaigns, but also leads to new challenges. The mass creation of AI-generated content can negatively affect media quality and performance.

AI will become a key factor in the development of new advertising solutions and in the programmatic sector, believes Robert HerrmannChief Revenue Officer (CRO) bei Traffective/FLAP.ONE:

The comprehensive integration of artificial intelligence in programmatic advertising is a key point on the agenda for 2025. Companies should invest in technology and expertise, understand and be able to use AI models to create personalized and data-driven campaigns. At the same time, the pressure to develop data protection-compliant solutions is growing, especially in view of stricter data protection laws such as the GDPR and the Schrems II ruling. Even though Google has postponed the abolition of third-party cookies, the development of alternative targeting methods, such as contextual targeting and AI-based solutions, remains crucial for future success in the advertising market.

Adam SmartDirector of Product Gaming at AppsFlyer, hopes that the event will learn lessons from the recent Gamescom when it comes to gaming:

The convergence of gaming platforms, the central role of performance marketing and the differentiated user behavior in mobile, PC and console gaming should have a significant impact on digital marketing in the gaming industry (…) As more and more brands become active in gaming environments such as Roblox, the trend towards omnichannel marketing will continue to gain momentum. If dmexco takes up these insights, it can better respond to the changing requirements of marketing and consolidate its position as a pioneer of digital innovations.
