Singer Psy (real name Park Jae-sang) explained the suspicion that the luxury villa he previously lived in was seized due to non-payment of enforcement fees due to unauthorized expansion.

On the 25th, Biz Korea reported on the suspicion that Psy had changed the use of some of the luxury villa units in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul and expanded without permission. When a complaint was filed that the house in question had been expanded without permission, Yongsan-gu Office confirmed the facts and notified Psy of an order for corrective action. However, the media reported that when Psy failed to comply, a performance penalty was imposed, and the house was seized in May as he did not pay the fee for over a year. Then, on October 28th, it was reported that the seizure was lifted after Psy paid the enforcement fee.

In response to this, Psy’s agency, P-Nation, explained, “At the time of moving in, we received a clean new house from the owner and lived in it for over 17 years. We have not changed the use or expanded anything since receiving the property.”

“Afterwards, a complaint was filed and we became aware that there had been illegal expansion of the building at the time of initial construction,” he said. “After confirming the facts, Psy coordinated with Yongsan-gu Office along with other householders of the villa in question, and jointly with the villa’s householders. “We are preparing to hire a construction company to correct the illegal expansion,” he explained.

In addition, regarding the delinquent performance penalty, he said, “The delinquency is only due to a delay in confirming the bill, but the full amount has now been paid.”

Meanwhile, the villa in question is The House, a luxury villa located in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, which Psy and his wife purchased for 2.2 billion won in September 2008. The two lived in the villa until 2020 and are known to be renting it out thereafter.
