Public education adviser calls for spreading the importance of psychology in the society

Adviser on Primary and Mass Education Prof. Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar urged to spread the importance of psychology in the society in building a mentally healthy nation.

He made this call in his speech as the chief guest at the ‘Second International Conference on Psychometrics’ at Dhaka University’s TSC on Saturday.

He said, if psychology is science then psychometrics is technology. What is the subject of psychometrics and how to apply it, we must try to spread it to all levels of society.

The advisor said, IQ test should be made to suit the country. So that input can be done in other fields officially. Efforts should be made to spread the subject of psychometrics in the society. There is a need for psychometrics – awareness needs to be created.

He said, IQ test is needed to do such research. If the tests are reliable enough, the public will be aware of their need. In addition to making society aware of the mental health protection of individuals, the quality of research should be increased.

On the other hand, data must be stored for research. We do not have our own IQ test equipment. Equipment must be arranged for this.

Note that psychometrics are used to assess a person’s mental abilities, personality traits, and cognitive abilities. These assessments are used to assess various psychological constructs of individuals such as intelligence, aptitude, personality and skills.
