Project details and technical solutions
The project envisages a bridge with a length of about 500 meters, which will serve pedestrians, cyclists and electric vehicles such as scootersbut it will not be intended for car traffic.
The access ramps on both sides of the bridge will be six meters wide, with a gradual expansion to nine meters, while the bridge itself will have a steel structure suspended from the arches by means of cables.
According to the plan, on the New Belgrade side, the bridge will be connected to the path on the Sava embankment near the urban transport interchange at the end of Ulica omladniški brigada, while on Ada Ciganlija it will fit into the reconstructed embankment.
Resident opposition and environmental criticism
Although the authorities consider this bridge to be one of the priorities for improving the city’s infrastructure, the residents of Block 70 have been expressing their disagreement for years.
Politika writes that the “Block 70 – Joint Action” organization, through a petition signed by over 10,000 people, highlighted a number of problems related to this project.
Key criticisms include the high price investments of 20 million eurosthe absence of a detailed analysis of the benefits and impact of the bridge on the environment, and the potential impairment of the quality of life due to increased traffic, noise and waste.
