Puree and its application – Better Earth

Purslane, also known as pyrica, is a plant that grows in many areas, including gardens, vineyards, orchards and wet meadows. Although it is often considered a weed, its medicinal properties have been valued since ancient times. It is especially known for being used in the treatment of digestive problems, but also for many other health problems, thanks to the healing properties of its roots and rhizomes.

The rhizome of sorghum contains important nutrients such as mineral salts, malic acid, carotene, proteins, saponins, ascorbic acid, essential oil, potassium and calcium. These substances have a beneficial effect on detoxifying the blood, improving the function of the nervous system, treating rheumatism, gout, anemia, diseases of the gall bladder, lungs, as well as inflammation of the mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines. Puree also helps with skin diseases, kidney, liver and spleen diseases. Its mild calming effect makes it useful in the treatment of depression, stress, nervousness and insomnia. It is also used to alleviate problems with an enlarged prostate, hemorrhoids and arthritis.

The rhizome is removed in late autumn, after which it is washed with cold water, cleaned, dried and packed. Also, the juice is pressed from the fresh root, and teas and poultices can be prepared, while the extract is used to make dietary products that can help in the treatment of mild forms of diabetes. Puree must be used carefully, because exceeding the recommended dose can cause potassium loss and kidney problems.

How is rennet used? A couple of suggestions

One of the ways of using puree is in the form of fresh rhizome juice. This juice is drunk for three to four months, half a glass of brandy half an hour before meals. Also, purée tea is prepared by pouring a tablespoon of small rhizomes with two deciliters of cold water. After that, it is heated until it boils, and then it is drunk three times a day before meals. To strengthen the blood, an elixir is used, which is prepared by boiling the finely chopped root in water until the liquid is reduced by half, and then it is drunk three times a day.

To improve digestion, a tea mixture is prepared from puree, licorice root, chamomile, sea buckthorn and pear, which is drunk before meals. Purée is also useful in the treatment of skin diseases, where a tea prepared from the crushed rhizome is used, which is drunk several times a day for a month.
