Putin banned childfree propaganda in Russia

It is no longer possible to promote such ideas in the media, cinema and the Internet.

In Russia, it is forbidden to promote the refusal to have children. The corresponding bill was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the document was published on the official information portal.

The project assumes that it is no longer possible to talk about childfree ideology in a positive way in the media, cinema, advertising and the Internet, as well as to promote these ideas among children. At the same time, information about the monastic lifestyle and observance of the vow of celibacy is not considered childfree propaganda.

According to the law, in cinema, childfree ideas will become the basis for refusal to issue a rental certificate, and for publishing childfree propaganda, the site can be included in the unified register of prohibited information of Roskomnadzor. Social media owners are also now required to monitor content and identify such material on their platforms.

Violators will be fined. Individuals will have to pay from 1 to 100 thousand rubles, officials – up to 200 thousand rubles, legal entities – up to 1 million rubles, or activities will be suspended for up to 90 days. If the idea of ​​childfree is promoted using the Internet, the media, or propaganda is aimed at children, then individuals will be fined up to 400 thousand rubles, officials – 800 thousand rubles, and organizations will have to pay 5 million rubles.

The State Duma approved the bill to ban childfree on November 12.
