Putin: I will have a phone call with Xi Jinping soon

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on the 9th (local time) that he plans to have a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping soon.

According to TASS and RIA Novosti news agencies, President Putin presided over a government meeting via video conference and said, “I will soon have a phone call with my colleague, the Chinese leader.” He said on this day After hearing a report on cooperation in the field of film production with China, Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova was instructed to submit related materials for use in calls with “our friends in China.”

President Putin and President Xi last spoke on the phone in February of last year. Afterwards, they met in person and had discussions at President Putin’s state visit to China, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, and the BRICS summit.

Today’s video conference is the first government meeting of the year. President Putin presided over the meeting, focusing on new national projects. At this event, he pointed out that the response to the oil tanker oil spill that occurred in the Kerch Strait of the Black Sea on the 15th of last year was not yet sufficient and requested that a committee be formed to prevent oil spills and damage in the event of future oil tanker accidents.
