Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on the 9th (local time) that he plans to have a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping soon.

President Putin and President Xi last spoke on the phone in February of last year. Afterwards, they met in person and had discussions at President Putin’s state visit to China, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, and the BRICS summit.

Today’s video conference is the first government meeting of the year. President Putin presided over the meeting, focusing on new national projects.
