The American daily The Washington Post wrote on Saturday that Ukraine and Russia sent delegations to Qatar in August to discuss an agreement to end airstrikes against energy facilities of the two warring parties.

According to the American newspaper, the agreement would have provided for a detailed ceasefire, but the negotiations were interrupted when Ukraine pushed into Russian territory.

Nobody interrupted anything because there was nothing to interrupt

– said Marija Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, in Moscow on Sunday in response to the article.

“There have been no direct or indirect negotiations between Russia and Kiev on the security of vital civilian facilities”

– he stated. The spokesperson stated that there is only contact between the mediators on humanitarian issues, among other things, in connection with the exchange of prisoners. He added that Russia also handed over children demanded by Ukraine to their relatives with the help of intermediaries, according to MTI, the Portfolio.
