qBittorrent 5, a larger version to take advantage of the P2P network

Peer-to-peer networks like BitTorrent need competent applications to extract their full potential. Today we welcome qBittorrent 5, a new version of what – in our opinion – is one of the best existing clients, especially for Windows.

And qBittorrent is a development of open source without additional adware-based junk code, which other more renowned clients do include. Completely freehas versions for the main platforms (Windows, Linux and macOS), a simple interface, but with everything necessary and effective execution for the main purpose of BitTorrent networks: sharing large files.

qBittorrent 5, news

Although it is a larger version, the new features are limited. And the series 4 has gone a long way and the software (latest version 4.6.7) was already tremendously polished after so many years on the market.

We see new functions incorporated into the interfaceincluding the ability to delete trackers directly through the menu of the widget tracker filter and a new column to re-advertise torrents. Subcategories now automatically inherit settings from their parent category, simplifying the management process.

Web UI improvements focus on increasing responsiveness and adding features like a dark theme and better mobile compatibility. Web API now supports SSL para torrents and incorporates new endpoints that expand its functionality.

qBittorrent 5 introduces the ability to create .torrent files with sizes of larger fragments to reduce their number and improve its distribution in the peer network. Users get the option to segregate unwanted files into a separate folder, which helps manage downloads more efficiently.

Particularly by platform, say that in Windows the client now supports dark mode and can be configured to work with the system settings. On macOS, improvements include support for quarantine and an updated display in the dock icon. Linux users benefit from better integration with systemd for power management and support for localized man pages.

The version deploys the usual bug fixes and updates the underlying technology of the softwareremoving support for Qt5 and 32-bit Windows, to make a complete transition to Qt 6.5 and C++20 that aligns with current technology standards.

You can review all the changes in the release notes which are available on the project page on GitHub and download the application for all its variants on your website.
