Qualcomm introduces the cheaper Snapdragon X (X1-26-100) clocked at 3.0 GHz

So far, Snapdragon X processors include the 12-core X Elite, 10-core and 8-core X Plus processors, and now also the promised entry-level versions that will carry just the designation Snapdragon X (ie without the epithet). Although there was speculation that they could only be 6-core, that would fall under the configurations typical of older Snapdragon 8cxs, which were never overly powerful. Qualcomm did not do nonsense and left the new processor with the designation X1-26-100 with 8 cores, just like the X Plus X1P-42-100. It also has the same 30 MB of cache memory.

The performance decreased only in the frequency range. Instead of the 3.2 GHz version of the Plus, we have a slightly lower 3.0 GHz (more precisely 2976 MHz) and the processor does not have a Boost frequency (the X1P-42-100 “boosts” to 3.4 GHz). It is left with reduced Adreno GPU performance to just 1.7 TFLOPS, however its NPU for AI algorithm calculations retains full performance of 45 TOPS, reaching Microsoft Copilot+ PC certification. The same very fast LPDDR5x-8448 memories are also supported. The processor is manufactured using a 4nm process. It is believed that notebooks with this processor could head towards the $600 price tag.
