Qualcomm processors have a security flaw. Millions of mobile phones are at risk

Qualcomm is reporting a security issue with some processors

Qualcomm, a leading manufacturer of mobile processors, has found itself in trouble. A vulnerability has been found in several of its processors that cyber criminals have exploited to target Android phone owners. Qualcomm is already solving the whole situation with the OEM manufacturers whose phones are affected by this problem.

Qualcomm processors have a problem

Qualcomm itself this information confirmedwith the vulnerability in Snapdragon processors revealed by the Google Threat Analysis Group research team. The vulnerability appeared in a wide range of mobile processors, but it was not limited to them, and more chips from Qualcomm workshops are at risk.

Researchers have even found it in some FastConnect modems and modules. Processors affected by this vulnerability fall into the mid-range and flagship categories, and it appears that this crack has so far been targeted at individuals rather than widespread attacks.

Which phones are affected by this vulnerability?

As for manufacturers, we can find vulnerable processors in devices from Motorola, OnePlus, Samsung and other big brands. The vulnerability was also discovered in the Snapdragon X55 5G modem used by iPhone 12, for example, but no attacks were reported against their users.

In total, this security crack affects 64 processors, including the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 888+ models, or the popular Snapdragon 660 and Snapdragon 680 chips. In addition to the X55 modem, the vulnerability was found in the FastConnect 6700, 6800, 6900 and 7800 modules.

Qualcomm is already solving the whole situation

The American processor manufacturer began to solve the whole situation relatively quickly and has already sent a correction patch to individual OEM manufacturers. Now it will be up to them how quickly they push this important update to their phones, but they have been advised by Qualcomm to do so as soon as possible. So if you have a phone with one of the aforementioned processors, expect an update soon.
