Qualcomm presented during the event Investor Day 2024 new product. Its final name is still being speculated, but it will probably be labeled as Snapdragon X. The less powerful, but affordable chipset will be intended for cheaper Windows devices. It will have an edge over the competition in one area.
Snapdragon X from Qualcomm
Qualcomm introduced the upcoming Snapdragon X chipset, which will be primarily intended for affordable devices with the Windows operating system. In addition to the mobile segment, Qualcomm can also enter the world of computers to a greater extent.
The price tag of devices in which this chipset will be installed should be around 600 US dollars (14,600 CZK). As we hinted at, the name of the new chipset isn’t final, but it’s said to be simply labeled Snapdragon X, fitting into the line of X-branded chipsets.

Chipset also suitable for AI
The company already offers chipsets for PCs. For example, Snapdragon X Elite with twelve-core CPU configurations and Snapdragon X Plus with eight-core or ten-core CPUs. The upcoming Snapdragon X is likely to come with a hexa-core processor, although the company has yet to officially confirm this.
Qualcomm said that their powerful NPU chip, which is used in the rest of the Snapdragon X SoC series, will also be used in the cheaper version of the Snapdragon X. For users, this means that Copilot+ AI will also be available on cheaper Windows PCs. Other competitors do not yet offer such an option.
Snapdragon X chipset availability
The availability of the new Snapdragon X chipset is not yet known. Qualcomm did not reveal any other details or whether the chipset will ship globally. The company is expected to launch the chipset during the next CES. The conference is scheduled to take place in the first half of January 2025 in Las Vegas.
