Qualcomm’s new flagship chip is the Snapdragon 8 Elite

Qualcomm has unveiled its new chipset for phones: the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It is intended for use in high-end Android phones, including Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 series.

According to Wccftech can we expect the devices the circuit sits in to be able to get up to eight years of software updates. This will be the company’s first chipset to use Qualcomm’s own Oryon cores.

Qualcomm recently tested the chipset in a reference laptop and compared it to the Snapdragon X Elite X1E-80-100, as well as an AMD Ryzen 9 HX 370 and an Intel Core Ultra 7 256V. According to Toms Hardware the results showed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite had both higher single-core and multi-core performance in Geekbench tests. In addition, it was significantly faster on browser tasks according to Speedometer 3.0.

Here are the results from Qualcomm’s test.

If the Snapdragon 8 Elite lives up to what Qualcomm’s test results indicate, next year’s flagship phones can expect a major performance boost.
