Today, on the official Radio 357 listeners group on Facebook, Paweł Sołtys announced the decision to introduce the broadcast of promotional spots and sponsored content in the radio’s live launch message.
Password – Advertisements…? We don’t have it! not so long ago (2022), promoting antyreklamy on Radio 357, from Monday (November 18) may be completely forgotten, at least for the listeners of this online radio station who do not support it financially.
Representatives of Radio 357 argue that the current support of patrons is “eaten” by inflation – over 4 years, 40% disappeared in this way – that is, from every PLN 10 we have approximately PLN 7 now.
That’s why we announced that we would introduce short promotional spots and sponsored content in the launch message preceding the launch of the live radio to people who do not want or cannot get involved financially in supporting the radio. They will launch on November 18. Listening to such a message will allow the radio to continue playing or will be a good excuse to start regular, monthly support for our project.
What about Patrons who support the station with monthly donations? Of course, they will not hear this content, provided that they are listening to Radio 357 logged in to the official mobile application. However, students who use external applications despite providing an alternative solution may encounter problems:
In turn, we have prepared a special technical solution for Patrons who listen to us in third-party applications. Thanks to it, everyone can generate their own Personal Streaming Address, i.e. a personalized link that can be entered into devices that allow manual stream configuration. This link starts the radio without a startup message.
However, some commenting Patrons indicate that they are unable to use this solution:
For now, with the stubbornness of a maniac, you shoot yourself in the foot with a message at the start of streaming. For someone who listens in the car and is unable to log in to the app built into the audio system, it became unbearable after a month. Unfortunately, the dedicated streaming link in this player does not work. This way of forcing support works exactly the opposite of what you would like. What a waste of a nice radio…
Listeners of Radio 357 and Radio Nowy Świat
From Radio 357’s announcement we can also read that the percentage of the station’s listeners who do not support the station’s activities with donations is currently estimated at 70%. It may be similar in the case of Radio Nowy Świat.
At the same time, approximately 70% of recipients listen to Radio 357 without contributing to the costs of its broadcasting. We understand this and the various reasons behind this decision. On the other hand, we have to maintain the radio and the pace of development.
How does this translate into specific numbers? Well, the latest data for both stations comes from 2023, when both Radio 357 and Radio Nowy Świat publicly disclosed data on the number of supporters – Radio Nowy Świat and Radio 357 after 3 years on the Internet.
And so, Radio Nowy Świat was supported by 34,000 people at that time. listeners for over 700 thousand PLN per month, and Radio 357 – PLN 50,000. listeners for over 900 thousand zloty.
Today, Radio 357 no longer displays this data on Patronite.pl and they are in the process of transferring Patrons to their own billing system, bypassing this intermediary.
In turn, Radio Nowy Świat currently supports over 32,000. listeners for the amount of over 720 thousand PLN per month. So, with high probability, the level of support for Radio 357 has not changed significantly in the last year.
However, estimates of the total listenership of both stations are provided by the latest report on the listenership survey of radio stations in Poland, prepared by the National Media Institute.
Currently, Radio 357 reaches almost 300,000 people. listeners every day, which gives it second place after RMF FM, and Radio Nowy Świat to 200,000. listeners – 4th place among all stations listened to on the Internet, 3rd place belongs to Radio ZET.
It can therefore be assumed that approximately 200,000 people listen to both stations every day. and 140 thousand listeners who do not support these radio stations financially.
It is worth mentioning here that Radio Nowy Świat has not received any signals since the beginning of its existence about plans to introduce any restrictions for such listeners or broadcast advertising spots for them.
Radio Nowy Świat started broadcasting on the Internet in July 2020, the launch of Radio 357 was announced in the fall of the same year and the first programs started in January 2021. Both stations were established on the initiative of former journalists of radio “Trójka”.
