The morning program of Äripää Radio on November 6 focuses on the coverage of the exceptionally weighty US presidential election.
We mediate recent developments and help to understand and put them into context. Äripää foreign news editor Indrek Lepik, who has just been in the USA for ten days, shares his impressions.
What augurs well for the American economic space? We ask this from EBS rector and professor of political economy, Meelis Kitsingu, who lived, studied and taught in the USA.
What about the outlook for geopolitics and trade relations? Analyzed by transit and economic expert Raivo Vare.
What do stock markets do? We discuss with Juhan Langi, head of Äripäiv’s investment department, and stock exchange journalist Dmitri Fefilov.
In addition to Indrek Lepik, Äripää opinion editor Karl-Eduard Salumäe is in the studio, Ireene Kilusk reads the news.
The program day continues with four programs:
11.00–12.00 “On the growth course”. Let’s talk about the loopholes in the security tax, i.e. the 2 percent corporate income tax, with Kristjan Järve, head of tax at Grant Thornton Baltic, and Martin Luige, sworn auditor and partner. With the security tax, there are situations where the accounting profit, and not the real profit, may be taxed.
Hear how a business can protect itself against this and what are the potential concerns and examples.
The presenter is Ireene Kilusk.
12.00–13.00 “Top of the day”. The topic of the show this time is the TOP of infrastructure construction. In the show, we talk about the dependence of the infrastructure construction sector on state orders, as well as the way of thinking of society and the requirements of the Climate Act. On the other hand, companies also need to adapt to changes and introduce new activities in order to be a good long-term partner for the public sector.
Tanel Kutsar, the head of Connecto, which came in second place in the TOP, says in the program that some infrastructure areas are already in trouble this year, because the wallet of the largest subscriber, Elektrilevi, is empty. Jüri Tamm, co-CEO of Estonia’s largest road builder Verston Group, is also on the show.
The presenter is Teeli Remmelg.
13.00–14.00 “Energy Hour”. In the show, Eesti Energia’s head of energy trade, Armen Kasparov, and Alexela’s energy portfolio manager, Kalvi Nõu, forecast the electricity price for the winter season and explain the little-discussed nuances of the operation of the electricity exchange. We will also give an overview of the current situation regarding the disconnection from the Russian network in winter, and we will briefly dwell on the increase in network fees.
The presenter is Lauri Leet.
15.00–16.00 “Eripäu focus”. The German economy, one of the preferred markets for Estonian entrepreneurs, has been languishing for the past two years. The volume of industrial production has been falling for a long time, and the country’s economic growth forecast for the new year is one of the weakest in Europe.
At the same time, entrepreneurs have no faith that the German government will be able to bring relief to the deepening crisis. How have Estonian companies felt the economic tensions in Germany firsthand, we will talk about this with companies that export to Germany on a large scale. Estonian Plywood board member Timo Hermlin and Stoneridge Electronics CEO Ardo Asperk are visiting.
The host is Eget Velleste.
