Secretary of State Raed Arafat advised the population, after the floods that occurred in the last few days on the coast, to reactivate the RO-Alert on their phones. Such extreme weather phenomena are expected not only in Constanta.
Arafat stated, on Digi 24, that in the last two days, from August 29, until Sunday morning, in Constanţa and Tulcea counties, 26 localities were intervened to evacuate water from 93 houses, 75 yards, 85 basements, some of which are at economic operators, others at houses, at 48 houses, in addition to other interventions, fallen trees, flooded streets”.
Arafat also said that at the beginning of the year there was an extremely serious storm in Constanta and it is the second serious storm during the summer. “I really have never had such intensity and impact of a storm. We have to expect such extreme weather phenomena, not only in Constanta, but also in other areas, such phenomena could intensify“, Raed Arafat pointed out.
“We advise the population, especially those who have disabled RO-Alert, to reactivate it on their phones”, specified Arafat, showing that 4 red nowcasting codes were given in Constanţa and Tulcea counties in the last 2 days, 12 orange codes in 10 counties, in addition to other warnings.
“In the respective counties, 17 RO-Alert messages were given plus five messages through Romanian television”, added Arafat.
The Secretary of State conveyed that the population must be attentive to the messages that are given in order to react correctly and in time, before it has an impact on their lives.
