Raid on Sitakunda highway, 20 CNG taxis seized

A case has been registered against 20 illegal CNG autorickshaws after raiding the Banshbaria area of ​​Sitakunda on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

The highway police filed this case after the CNG autorickshaws were seized in a day-long raid on Monday.

According to the relevant sources, in Sitakunda, various three-wheeled vehicles, including CNG autorickshaws, which are prohibited on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, are increasing at an alarming rate. As a result, accidents are almost happening on the highway. Recently, two CNG autorickshaws were hit by accidents in two days yesterday, Sunday and today, Monday, a total of three people were seriously injured.

On the same day, on Sunday, a CNG autorickshaw was rammed by a speeding truck in Shitalpur area of ​​Sonaichari, in which two persons were seriously injured and are undergoing treatment in the hospital, and on Monday, a CNG autorickshaw accident in the North Bypass area of ​​the municipality left one person seriously injured.

Therefore, in the wake of these consecutive incidents, the highway police conducted an operation on the Banshbaria highway in front of the Baraulia highway police station on Monday. Meanwhile, the CNG autorickshaw drivers started running away after seeing the police driving recklessly.

Md Abdul Momin, OC of Bar Aulia Highway Police Station, said that the CNG autorickshaw drivers started fleeing after seeing the police on the road. However, after we raided and seized 20 vehicles, a case was filed against them. He said that such operations will continue on the highway.
