Ramsay et al. the most expensive NHL player really grieved. He is insanely good, he wears a Slovakian club jersey at home. He wants only one thing – NHL – Hockey

Slovaks do not have good memories of him. At the home World Cup in 2019 in the match against Germany, Craig Ramsay’s selection made him sad. With a goal 27 seconds before the end of the third period, he decided on a 3:2 win and significantly eroded the Slovak hockey players’ chances of advancing to the quarterfinals. We are talking about star forward Leon Draisaitl.

His father Peter was born in Karvina and grew up in Czechoslovakia until the age of 13. Subsequently, he and his parents emigrated to Germany, where he became one of the prominent hockey personalities over the course of 17 years.

In the position of coach, he also led HC Košice and Bratislava Capitals. In addition to his career, he can also be proud to have raised one of the best players of today.

Leon signed a mega contract with the Edmonton Oilers a few days ago. The eight-year, $112 million contract is the highest ever in NHL history. The native of Cologne will improve by 16 and a half million every year during the first three seasons.

“I’m very proud to play for Edmonton. I think we’re building something really special that I want to continue to be a part of and hopefully take it a step further,” Draisaitl said at the press conference after signing the contract.

He alluded to last year’s loss in the final against Florida. The Oilers thus extended their wait for the Stanely Cup, which they last won in the 1989/90 season.

“As an 18-year-old boy, you develop a love and a strong bond with the team that drafted you. Plus, we haven’t reached our goal yet, so it’s even more special for me. We can do it together,” says the German striker.

He deserves every dollar

There is no doubt that the German deserves the highest contract in NHL history. From the beginning of his career, he has proven that he has the X-factor in him.

With exceptional talent, which is additionally supported by discipline and hard work, he developed into one of the best strikers in the world.

He has a number of individual awards to his credit, of which the trophy for the most productive or most useful NHL player from the 2019/20 season stands out.

“What makes him special is his hockey IQ, his movement and his skating. He’s insanely good at it. He also had a great role model in his father. From a very young age he was guided to be a hockey player.

At the same time, he has an excellent body structure. From the physical side, he is excellently prepared to handle the huge amount of time he will spend on the ice, as he is the leader of the team,” says Finnish coach and official Elmo Aittola.

According to him, Florida captain Alexander Barkov is a similar type of hockey player. Players like them have a motivation that, despite their enormous talent, will not allow them to slack off on training or postpone summer training.

“They don’t care about money or fame. They want to be the best in the world. From my point of view, that is the greatest gift that a hockey player or athlete can have,” says the Finn.

Edmonton general manager Stan Bowman believes that after Draisaitl, the club will be able to sign a new contract with McDavid, who is considered by many to be the best player today. Together with Draisaitl, they form an inseparable pair.

“We could never replace what Leon brings to our team. He is an integral part of the club and will continue to be. There will certainly be challenges in the future with that, but we will deal with them as they come.

I think the most important thing in the first place was to make sure he wanted to stay in Edmonton. This is also what we should focus on with this contract,” states Bowman.
