Ekenedilichukwu Ekeh, Rangers Assistant Coach, has described the Flying Antelopes’ goalless draw against Heartland at Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri on Saturday as a “fair result,” Completesports.com reports.
Ekeh addressed the media on behalf of Technical Adviser and Super Eagles Assistant Coach Fidelis “The Working One” Ilechukwu, who opted not to speak following the intense encounter.
“We came here for the three points, but at the end of the day, we had to settle for one,” said Ekeh after the NPFL Matchday 13 clash.

“It was a ’50-50′ game, a very intense derby. As you know, Heartland vs Rangers is always a tough contest.”
He continued: “We managed a goalless draw, and there’s no shame in that. It was a hard-fought match, and both teams left with a point each. For me, it’s a fair result, not a bad one at all.”
Rangers have now gone five consecutive games unbeaten since their home defeat to Kano Pillars. Ekeh attributed this positive streak to the team’s ability to identify and correct past mistakes.
“Football is about making mistakes, learning from them, and moving forward,” Ekeh explained.

“We’ve sat down to evaluate our games, especially the loss to Kano Pillars, and worked hard on those areas. Thank God, the players have understood and implemented these corrections, and that’s what you’re seeing now.”
Ekeh said the Rangers’ draw at Heartland felt like two points dropped due to missed scoring opportunities.
“Honestly, it feels like two points lost because we came here for all three. We played well despite the challenge of playing on natural grass instead of our synthetic pitch,” Ekeh said. “We created chances but couldn’t convert them. However, we kept our defence solid. A point away from home is still a positive result,” he concluded.
