At one time, Champions League T20 was played on the field with the champion teams of franchise leagues of different countries. This tournament was last held in 2014. But the good news is that this time West Indies cricket is bringing another similar tournament. Which is named Global Super League. Their match schedule has already been announced. The curtain will rise on November 26. After that, Rangpur will enter the field on the second day (November 27). England’s Hampshire Hawks will be the opponents of Bangladesh representatives in the first match. Hampshire is one of the most successful T20 Blast teams in England. And keeping this tournament in front, Rangpur has started practice from Thursday.
The cricketers appeared at the Mirpur Sher-e Bangla ground academy premises this morning. Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mohammad Saifuddin are also in the first day of practice. Besides, Mohammad Ashraful was seen in the role of coach of Rangpur.
Apart from Rangpur and the English team, the host Caribbean team Guyana Amazon Warriors, Pakistan Super League (PSL) Lahore Qalandars, Australian domestic cricket regular Victorian Cricket Team will participate in the tournament.
Rangpur announced the squad a few days ago for this upcoming global competition. Nurul Hasan Sohan is also going there as captain. Besides, Mohammad Saifuddin, Soumya Sarkar, Saif Hasan, Sheikh Mehdi and Kamrul Islam have been named in Rangpur from the latest BPL draft. Besides, Fortune Barisal’s leg spinner Rishad Hossain, Khulna Tigers’ Afif Hossain, Sylhet Strikers’ Arafat Sunny have been selected by Rangpur for the Global Super League.
Rangpur has signed contracts with five foreign cricketers. Along with Caribbean all-rounder Matthew Ford, UK top-order batsman Wayne Madsen and pacer Jack Chappell and US batsman Steven Taylor and all-rounder Harmeet Singh will play in the Rangpur jersey.
Fortune Barisal was supposed to play in the tournament as it was the champion in the last season of BPL. But as they refused to participate in the event, Rangpur got the opportunity.
