Rashed of Hathazari was found dead after coming on leave from abroad

Mohammad Rashed (26), a young man from Hathazari, Dubai, who was seriously injured in a road accident while on holiday in his native Bangladesh, died while undergoing treatment.

The deceased is the 2nd son of Noor Alam of Himmat Shikdar’s house adjacent to Gani Bridge in Ward No. 4 of Mekhal Union of Rashed Upazila.

Cousin of the deceased. Shafi told Daily Azadi that Rashed left the country and migrated abroad in the hope of changing his fortunes about two years ago. Just three days after coming back to the country for a vacation from the East for some time, Rauzan went to his sister’s father-in-law’s house in the upazila.

From there, Rashed was seriously injured when the CNG-powered auto-rickshaw carrying them met with an accident on the way back to Hathazari with his sister’s daughter.

Later, the locals rescued him and admitted him to a private hospital in the city. Later, when his condition worsened, he was taken to Chamek Hospital and treated in the ICU. Rashed died there on Wednesday evening 9 days after the incident while undergoing treatment.

Family sources said that when his elder brother arrives in the country tomorrow from abroad, he will be buried in the family cemetery after the funeral prayers in the mosque ground of his home village.

Shafiul Alam Shafi, a Dubai expatriate of Hathazari who stayed in the same room in exile, told Daily Azadi over the phone on Wednesday night that Rashed was a very hardworking young man. My eyes are watering to think that he went to the country and left us forever. I never imagined that I would lose Rashed like this.

Mekhal Union Parishad’s concerned ward member Sabuj confirmed the truth of the incident and told Daily Azadi that the deceased Rashed was the younger of the two brothers and sisters.

Meanwhile, when the news of Rashed’s death reached his village home, the air became heavy with the cries of his parents, relatives and neighbors.
