Raspberry Pi released the Pico 2 W – a wireless microcontroller

The Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W is a small microcontroller board that allows you to create large-scale hardware projects. It also has wireless functions.

Raspberry The Pi Pico 2 W is a microcontroller, but what does that actually mean? Microcontrollers allow you to control other electronic components or devices. Regular Raspberry Pis are single-board computers for general use, while microcontrollers are specifically designed to interact directly with other things.

Microcontrollers tend to be small, cheap and energy efficient. Even in the picture you can see that the Pico 2 W has dozens of input and output pins on the sides (small yellow holes all over the board). It uses them to communicate with other components. It also meets the price criterion more than adequately, it costs around 7 dollars, which is about 170 CZK.

Pico 2 W is equipped with a dual-core processor with a dual architecture operating at a frequency of 150 MHz. It also has a built-in 4 MB flash memory for storing code. In comparison, the RP2350 has only 520 KB of memory.

Raspberry Pi products are increasingly used by industrial and electronic manufacturing companies. When Raspberry Pi went public this year, it said the industrial and embedded segment accounted for 72% of its revenue.
