Raspberry Pi has now launched The Compute Module version of the Raspberry Pi 5a long-awaited news for the many customers and users who want to take advantage of the new more powerful circuits in applications where the usual model is not suitable.
Just like its predecessor, it is a small daughter board with connectors to connect to a larger circuit board for all sorts of custom applications. The new model has the same size and location of contacts, but there have been some changes in what the different pins do. The company has also removed the MIPI interface and added two USB 3.0 interfaces. All the details are in one document at Raspberry Pi.
The company also takes the opportunity to launch a number of accessories to use with Compute Module 5. First up is a new model of the IO Board, basically a “motherboard” with more space for various accessories, both inside and outside the computer.
A new chassis called IO Case is intended to be used in, for example, industrial control. A new CPU cooler and antenna module have also been released.
Initially, the Compute Module 5 will be sold with 2, 4, or 8 GB of RAM, but a 16 GB model is on the way in 2025. Customers can also choose between 16, 32, or 64 GB of eMMC storage, or none at all, and with or without Wi-Fi.
The Danish store raspberrypi.dk already has the model with Wifi, 4 GB memory and 32 GB storage in stock for SEK 980.
