RB Leipzig: New signing talks about transfer

Arthur Vermeeren wants to give his career at RB Leipzig a new boost. The Belgian international has now spoken about his move to the Bundesliga and revealed that he asked a club legend from FC Bayern about his new employer.

“Leipzig is a club with a good vision that gives young players the opportunity to develop. That is also what I need,” Vermeeren is quoted as saying by “Bild”.

The 19-year-old had moved from Atlético Madrid to the Saxons shortly before the transfer deadlineVermeeren is initially on loan for one season. If the Belgian completes a certain number of competitive matches at RB Leipzig, he will be required to buy. The contract would then run until 2029.

“As a young player, I think you get more chances in Leipzig – which I got less of there,” said the new signing, commenting on the differences between the Red Bulls and Atlético.

FC Bayern club legend gave advice

Before making his decision to move, Vermeeren also sought advice from Mark van Bommel. The youngster knows the FC Bayern club legend from his time at Belgian first division club Royal Antwerp. “He worked as a coach in Wolfsburg and knows a lot of people in Leipzig. As a coach in Antwerp, I learned a lot from him,” revealed Vermeeren.

At RB Leipzig, the four-time Belgian international will now train under Marco Rose. “He has spoken to me a lot about how the team plays and what he expects from me. I have the feeling that he trusts me,” said Vermeeren, assessing his start under the 48-year-old.

His goal at RB Leipzig is to “play as much as possible, learn a lot and do my best,” he said, looking ahead to the coming weeks and months.
