RDIF and BitRiver will jointly build data centers in the BRICS countries / ServerNews

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and mining data center operator BitRiver have announced a partnership under which they will engage in projects to introduce AI technology and build data centers in the BRICS countries, Vedomosti reported. It is also expected that joint work will increase Russia’s share in the global computing power market.

According to RDIF, BitRiver serves 21 data centers in Russia, with ten more under construction. As the fund noted, the acceleration of the implementation of AI technologies has led to a global shortage of computing power in energy-intensive data centers, which creates promising opportunities for Russia, taking into account the existing data center capacities, as well as the existing experience in their construction and operation.

The RDIF CEO called the development of computing power for the implementation of AI in various sectors of the economy a priority for Russia and its BRICS partners. He said that sharing high-tech infrastructure will allow BRICS members to reduce costs, reduce dependence on foreign technology suppliers, develop their own digital solutions and independently control critical data.
