Reach of Dutch online news sites is stabilizing

The use of traditional media has been declining for years. The use of online news, on the other hand, is stabilizing, as new figures from the Media Authority show.

Every year, the body investigates how the Netherlands consumes news and reports on it with a solid report.

After years of decline, the use of online news sites and apps appears to be stabilizing. Around the point of fifty percent daily reach.

The half who do not get their news from traditional online news services often do so via social media such as WhatsApp, Instagram and YouTube. TikTok does not play a significant role in this area.

The immense reach of online audio is also striking. According to the CvdM report, audio streams and podcasts have as large a daily reach as online video/television. That is 66 percent live radio, 24 percent music (such as Spotify) and three percent podcasts.
