The public utility company “City Cleanliness” Belgrade started a major campaign to mark almost 50,000 blue PVC bins for the disposal of mixed recyclable packaging waste, with stickers with clear instructions and additional educational content on how to properly sort and dispose of this type of waste.
According to the statement from this public utility company, it is about free bins with a volume of 240 liters, distributed in the past period to households with individual type of housing in all Belgrade municipalities that fall under the jurisdiction of PUC “City Cleanliness” Belgrade.
During the first day of the action, blue PVC bins belonging to households in the municipalities of Palilula and Rakovica were marked with stickers. On each unmarked blue PVC bin in these municipalities, the operational teams of “Cleanliness” stuck stickers with instructions that clearly state what type of packaging waste is disposed of in a certain type of waste disposal container, at the same time giving them a new visual identity.
In addition, educational brochures have been placed in the mailboxes of the residents of these two municipalities that talk about the importance of recycling, the importance of primary sorting of waste, as well as how it is most properly carried out, in the manner prescribed by positive legal regulations. .
Citizens will be able to read on these stickers and in the educational brochures that only clean and washed aluminum beverage cans, transparent plastic beverage bottles, caps, pet packaging, paper, cardboard and Tetra Pak packaging, magazines and newspapers are deposited in the blue bins, as well as and that the “Čistoće” teams will only remove the specified recyclables from the blue bins.
“Blue PVC bins are intended for the primary separation of waste, and the PUC “Gradska čistoća” Belgrade has in the last few years distributed 60,000 of these bins to households with an individual housing type, while the plan is to distribute another 10,000 of these containers,” the announcement states. .
The action was launched with the aim of improving the organization of garbage disposal and solving the problem in narrow streets where it is not possible to place containers.
According to them, this garbage removal technology does not endanger traffic safety, and it significantly affects the reduction of the formation of “wild” landfills in Belgrade. The significance of the distribution of bins for the disposal of recyclable waste lies in the fact that the separation of waste at the place of its origin, in the homes of Belgrade residents, significantly increases the amount of collected recyclables, as well as the degree of representation of recycling in Belgrade.
“City Cleanliness” appeals to the owners of bins not to use their bins to dispose of rubble, earth, ash and embers, as this leads to permanent damage to the bin, which they will have to replace at their own expense, but only according to the instructions indicated on the new stickers and educational brochures that every household that owns a blue PVC bin will receive during this campaign.
The only obligation of the fellow citizens is to sort the waste according to the clearly received instructions, and on a certain day of the week to leave the bins in front of their gates, on the street, because the workers of “Cistoća” do not have the right to enter private properties.
