realme has established itself as one of the top five smartphone manufacturers worldwide, which is no accident. In recent years, the Chinese company stands out for its innovations, offering excellent performance and innovative solutions in fast charging. The GT series, which is realme’s flagship, is characterized by impressive hardware, advanced capabilities in mobile photography, reliability and high durability. The new GT 7 Pro builds on these values, offering a premium experience aimed at the most demanding users. In fact, realme’s commitment to technological development is evident, as it invests 380 million dollars in research and development. It is indicative that more than 600 people work exclusively on the development of the GT series, demonstrating the seriousness with which it approaches this category. As we will see below, the GT 7 Pro is not just a flagship, but a device that directly competes with the top choices of other manufacturers, satisfying even the most demanding users. So let’s see in more detail in the review that follows all the surprises that the realme GT 7 Pro has in store for us…
Born for extreme stamina and… crazy dives!
From the first moment we held the GT 7 Pro in your hands, our eye immediately fell on the quality and highly durable construction. In terms of design, the realme GT 7 Pro in no way sacrifices its elegance, for the sake of high durability, giving a premium feel but also impressive levels of functionality. realme GT 7 Pro comes “equipped” with (the classic) IP68 certification for dust and water resistance, but also IP69 certification, which means that realme’s new flagship is designed to withstand even the most extreme scenarios ( it can, for example, “dive” and emerge unscathed from a depth of 2 meters for a duration of 30 minutes). Undoubtedly, its most impressive feature is that the GT 7 Pro can be used underwater at a depth of up to 2 meters, which Realme not only advertises, but also encourages by incorporating a special underwater camera mode!
Impressively robust, it seems to be made of… “massive” aluminum frame, while it’s worth noting that it’s based on Corning’s Gorilla Glass 7i on the screen, as well as Panda-type glass on the back (the most… clumsy and careless users they will appreciate it). Looking at the realme more closely, we see that the Power ON/OFF button is located on the right side of the device, together with the keys to increase and decrease the volume, while on the bottom side we find the tray for inserting the SIM card ( supports dual-SIM, but not e-SIM), as well as the speaker along with the type-C port. The top side of the GT 7 Pro is interesting as it houses an extremely useful infrared port. The global versions of the phone come in two colors (Mars Orange and Galaxy Grey), while the white version remains exclusive to China. On the back of the device, the impressive decoration of the Mars Orange version features a wavy design, while the Galaxy Gray is more minimalistic and elegant. The triple camera setup is located in a square frame, taking up a lot of space on the back plate of the device.
One of the most important innovations of the realme GT 7 Pro, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is also included – if it was optical, you wouldn’t be able to use it as a shutter button underwater. In addition, the supersonic sensor is generally preferred by users, thanks to its improved functionality with wet or dirty fingers out of water, as well as the fact that it does not emit bright light at night. It’s conveniently placed, its responsiveness is fantastic, and it’s undeniably a great solution that offers tremendous convenience overall.
Moving on to the display, here it is obvious that realme did not hesitate to throw its heaviest weapons into the arena. Joining hands with Samsung, realme has equipped its latest flagship with a top-notch Panel that is simply… eye-catching. Specifically, the GT 7 Pro has a 6.78-inch display with Eco2 LTPO OLED technology, with a resolution of 1220 x 2670 pixels, support for HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision, a pixel density of 450ppi and a refresh rate of 120Hz (variable refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz). Where the display really gets a ten with a tone, is in its impressive levels of brightness, as it reaches peak brightness levels that reach 6500 nits! And the screen-to-body ratio of realme’s latest flagship is an excellent 89.4%, which means plenty of space for playing content.
Beast… of the Apocalypse!
Taking a look at the “inner world” of the realme GT 7 Pro, here things get even better, as the new flagship of the Chinese company offers performance that is… stunning! And how could this not happen, since the GT 7 Pro is one of the first devices to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, a chipset with a completely new architecture (compared to the past) and manufacturing technology at 3nm. The SoC in question (which also runs faster than the wind) has two Oryon Prime cores clocked at 4.32GHz, which handle the high-performance work, and six Oryon V2 Phoenix M cores, which run at 3.53GHz and the “mission » them is to ensure stability and improved energy management.
The Adreno 830 GPU has three sub-modules with separate memory, ensuring excellent graphics even in the most demanding games, while the device is available in versions of 12GB and 16GB RAM (LPDDR5X) and storage space in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB (UFS 4.0). In benchmark tests, the GT 7 Pro performs exceptionally well in CPU metrics, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC pushing the AnTuTu score to 3,000,000 points. And because the realme GT 7 Pro is built to deliver astronomical performance, realme’s engineers focused on incorporating the special Iceberg VC cooling system, which covers most of the device and offers 30% better heat dissipation (compared to previous model of the GT series). With the above specs, it is easy to understand that the realme GT 7 Pro has been created to withstand intense pressure and successfully manage any demanding application it is called upon to face.
The impressively dynamic hardware is also accompanied by the corresponding software, which is why the GT 7 Pro comes with Android 15 and the updated Realme UI 6.0, which offers a clean design and new features that (as you would have guessed correctly) focus on AI. Flexibility and ease of use are at the core of the User Interface, while some of its most important AI-related features include AI Screen Recognition, which recognizes content on the screen for easy saving or searching, AI Motion Deblur, which corrects motion in blurry photos, Sketch to Image, for on-the-fly creation of images from sketches and finally AI Gaming Super Resolution, which enhances graphics in selected games (a sample of realme’s intention to invest and in mobile gaming). It is worth noting that the device is going to receive 3 major Android upgrades and 4 years of security updates in the future, ensuring long-term support.
In terms of connectivity, here the realme “beast” gives away everything necessary for a seamless and high-end user experience, with the GT 7 Pro supporting: Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6 and the latest Wi-Fi 7, while it also has Bluetooth 5.4. It also goes without saying that it has NFC (360o), while it supports all known GPS standards (GALILEO, BDS, GLONASS, QZSS and NavIC).
Camera setup and… fast charging at maximum!
As is easily understood, realme could not help but give great importance to the camera setup of the GT 7 Pro. After all, since you’re developing a high-end flagship, camera performance can only be one of its main features. The key specs of the GT 7 Pro camera setup include:
- Main camera: 50MP (Sony IMX 906, 1/1.56″, f/1.8, OIS)
- Telephoto lens 3x: 50MP (Sony IMX 882, 1/1.95″, f/2.65, OIS)
- Ultra wide camera: 8MP (Sony IMX 355, 1/4.0″, f/2.2)
- Selfie camera: 16MP (Sony IMX 480, 1/3.0″, f/2.45)
The phone supports underwater shooting mode, with activation when it is detected under water. This functionality is enhanced by the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which serves as a shutter button when the touch screen cannot be used.
In daytime conditions, the main camera performs extremely well, as photos have minimal noise, high detail and natural processing. Colors are vibrant, without exaggeration, while white balance is generally accurate. Skin tones are rendered well, while the portrait mode delivers satisfactory results. And the telephoto camera gives detailed shots, good dynamic range and true colors and is ideal for portrait shots, as the shooting distance is suitable to bring out facial features with natural proportions. Finally, the results are also good in ultrawide mode, with the color performance being TOP. At the same time, the night shots are impressively balanced, while the intervention of AI where needed greatly optimizes the photographic result. Closing with the video recording, it is worth mentioning that the GT 7 Pro can even shoot video in 8K (at 24 fps), while the video recording of the selfie cam is 1080p.
Concluding our experience with realme’s flagship, we cannot fail to extol the fantastic results that the device demonstrates in terms of energy management and autonomy. The GT 7 Pro has a 6,500mAh battery, which is undoubtedly an amount that you rarely find in a device that does not belong to the rugged category. According to Realme, the technology it has used in the battery of the GT 7 Pro is silicon carbon, which allows full functionality even at temperatures down to -30°C. The device supports 120W fast charging, with a full charge time of just 35 minutes and 50% in 12 minutes! Although it lacks wireless charging, Realme has incorporated features that protect battery life, such as limiting charging to 80% and smart charging management. With performance that reaches 21 hours plus hours in video playback and close to 9 hours of non-stop gaming, GT 7 Pro is among the top of the top in autonomy!
Unrestrained…
Without a doubt, the realme GT 7 Pro (priced at 1199 euros) is a bold statement from the Chinese company, which also has wild moods for the premium high-end category. With the choice of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, an impressive display, the truly excellent battery life, the AI features and the unique underwater camera function, the new flagship of realme looks the competition in the face and at the same time whets our appetite for the GT 8!
