Rear-wheel drive and extra long range: Porsche expands the Macan family

Rear-wheel drive and a range of up to 641 kilometers are the highlights of the new entry-level model in the Macan family – which is also expanded with a powerful Macan 4S.

Porsche is now expanding the model program with two more versions of the fully electric Macan.

While the new rear-wheel drive Macan offers a range of up to 641 kilometers (WLTP), the powerful Macan 4S places itself between the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo.

Although it is an entry-level model, the rear-wheel drive Macan is equipped with the same 100 kilowatt-hour battery as in the other models. The electric motor that drives the rear wheels is also identical to the one you find in the Macan 4. Thanks to an output of up to 360 horsepower and a maximum torque of 563 Newton meters, the 0-100 discipline is completed in 5.7 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 220 kilometers per hour.

Since the rear-wheel drive Macan is exempt from the front engine, the weight is reduced by 110 kilograms compared to a Macan 4. This contributes to the extended range of up to 641 kilometers (WLTP). Thanks to a charging capacity of up to 270 kilowatts (DC), it only takes about 21 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent via a quick charger.

You get more power and more acceleration in the new Macan 4S, which offers up to 516 horsepower and 820 Newton meters. While the electric motor on the rear axle is newly developed, the front wheels are powered by the same motor as in the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo. This ensures a 0-100 time of just 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 240 kilometers per hour.

Despite the impressive power, the new Macan 4S still offers an attractive range and is thus able to travel up to 606 kilometers (WLTP) on a full charge. The electronically controlled four-wheel drive, Porsche Traction Management (ePTM), distributes the forces between the front and rear axle up to five times faster than a conventional four-wheel drive, and active suspension (PASM) is standard.

The offroad design package

Together with the two new models, Porsche is also launching a number of exciting equipment options, which are available for the entire Macan family. This applies, among other things, to a new color, Slate Gray Neo, as well as 20-inch Macan S wheels – and not least the new off-road design package, which makes the Macan even better equipped to explore the terrain outside the asphalt.

The Offroad Design Package offers a more rugged offroad look with contrast or exterior color elements, including a modified front bumper that increases the approach angle and makes it easier to negotiate steep hills and slopes. If the car is equipped with adaptive air suspension, the ground clearance is also increased by 10 millimeters in the standard setting.

The Danish prices start at DKK 719,900 including VAT for the Macan and from DKK 879,900 including VAT for the Macan 4S. The new Macan models can be experienced at Porsche Center Aarhus and Porsche Center Copenhagen during 2024.
