On Friday, November 22, the 2nd Openly Anti-Stigma Pledge Gala. The Sagrad Cor de Martorell Hospital was recognized with the seal that consolidates the distinction for 14 community devices focused on mental health and the fight against stigma, of the 68 services recognized by Obertament.
The CSMA of Martorell, the HD Adults of Martorell, the SRC of Martorell, the CSMIJ of Martorell, the Hospital de Dia d’Adolescents of Martorell, the CSMIJ of Molins de Rei, the CSMA of Sant Feliu de Llobregat, the SRC of Sant Feliu de Llobregat, the CSMA del Berguedà, the HD del Berguedà, the SRC del Berguedà, the CSMA del Alt Penedès, the HD of Alt Penedès and the SRC of Alt Penedès were the services recognized by adhering to the badge.
This is the first seal of the Spanish State that highlights and makes visible the commitment of entities, services and professionals in the fight against stigma in mental health. This achievement is the result of the effort and dedication of more than a hundred professionals, who represent a prominent percentage within the set of services that adhere to the Anti-Stigma Commitment.
Dr. Montse Guitart, Coordinator of Community Care at Sagrad Cor Hospital, Dra. Pilar Muley, coordinator of Community Care in Mental Health for Adults in Alt Penedès, and Dr. David Juanes, coordinator of the Mental Health Rehabilitation Area, were the professionals in charge of receiving this recognition on behalf of the affiliated services.
The CaixaFòrum Macaya in Barcelona hosted the event, which aimed to publicly recognize the efforts of these pioneering services in improving the internal culture in the treatment of mental health users. Currently, these services already represent 25% of community mental health services in Catalonia.
During the gala, a collection of good practices in mental health was presented and the accession of new health services to the Antistigma Commitment was made official. With these new additions, the commitment already brings together 68 services from 19 provider entities and has the involvement of 870 mental health professionals from Catalonia recognized for their work in the fight against stigma. During the gala, provisional and final plaques were given to all the services attached to the badge.
The results of the work done so far were presented, with a collection of good practices implemented by the recognized devices. This presentation was given by Maria Lomascolo and Mariona Basté, responsible for the Obertament project, who stressed the need to “put an end to a paternalistic model, recognize discriminatory behaviors or that violate human rights and transform them” .

He also did not want to miss the opportunity to denounce the harmful effect of paternalistic treatment or the absolute truths used by some professionals, and he recalled that the psychiatric consultation “must be a safe environment where you never feel afraid and where users don’t feel judged”.
