Miro Sabo presented a collection inspired by the renaissance at this fall’s MBPFW (Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week) in early September 2017, in which he reflects on the needs of the modern woman and the sustainability of his collections.
The designer used next to when preparing the models luxury fabrics also leftover materials from his studio, which he completed with Preciosa crystals. It features in a collection inspired by history patchwork, košilovina or silk dupion.
“Part of the collection consists of clothes mixed sometimes with ten different types of fabrics, the rest is made of silk dupion, silk velvet or the popular shirting and linen. This idea allowed me to combine seemingly disparate materials, colors and shapes, which I enjoy a lot and would like to continue experimenting with. The collection is also inspired by history and the Italian Renaissance, which largely determines my work in the long term.” he explains.
Luxury fabrics and traditional Czech crystal connected Miro Sabo, among other things, with the technique of patchwork from scraps from his studio and combinations different shades and shapes of glass within one model.
“During the creation of collections, a large amount of waste is generated. They are, for example, larger or smaller scraps of fabric. So I used what would otherwise end up useless and combined it with new materials that I combined into sophisticated shapes. These cannot be done without the quality of craftsmanship and handwork. In response to the fact that I have been engaged in custom creation for a long time, I tried to make use of the experience gained in daily contact with customers and their needs.”
the designer himself describes.
The Mira Saba show as part of MBPFW was supported by the company Preciosa Componentswhose crystal Miro uses on his models.
“The decoration of clothes with glass has been here since the beginning of mankind, I love history and decided to focus on this topic,” adds Miro Sabo.
“We are happy that we can support young talents in Czech fashion. In addition, Miro Sabo shares a very similar philosophy to Preciosa, with its approach to sustainable fashion and admiration for precision hand-crafting and quality.” he says Karel Paral, director of business development and marketing companies Preciosa Components.
