The head of the Electoral System Reform Commission said that ‘reform is very important’ in various areas of the state. Badiul Alam Majumdar. At the same time, the editor of the citizen (Sujan) for good governance thinks that the time is also important.
“Earlier there were many reform committees, but they could not reform or change anything,” said Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder said, “If they reformed, August 5 would not have been created. That is why reform is very important this time. You have to give some time for that.”
He also showed the reason why time should be given. Said, “So that the bitter experience of the past does not return, reasonable time should be given for this. The interim government will sit with the political parties on our recommendation. A roadmap for reforms will then be developed.”
“The election roadmap will be based on consensus. How much time will they (political parties) give? Time is of the essence.” Said Sujan editor.
He said these things in the speech of the chief guest in the Shadow Parliament titled ‘Election, Role of Candidates and Citizens for Fair Elections’ at FDC on Friday.
Electoral System Reform Commission will submit reform recommendations to the government by December 31, said Dr. Badiul Alam He said, “Then the roadmap of how to implement it will begin.”
“There are many stakeholders in elections,” he said, adding, “The most important stakeholder is the Election Commission.”
Badiul Alam said, “Elections are not a matter of one day. It’s a process. This process must be fair and accurate. To ensure that voters can cast their votes freely without any pressure, the Commission is responsible for everything from the preparation of the correct voter list to the completion of the elections.”
He further said, “Law and order forces and political parties are one of the other participants in the election.”
He emphasized on the honesty of these participants. He said, “If they are not neutral, it is not possible for the commission to have a fair election. At the same time, the need for media and civil society is essential. A neutral atmosphere will prevail in the elections with the combination of these.
At the time, the head of the Electoral System Reform Commission said, “I think that everyone who has performed the duties of the commission in the last three elections should be brought to justice.”
The editor of Citizens for Good Governance (Sujan) also spoke about the current Election Commission. Said, “As a result, the tree will be identified. I hope there will be a fair election. But I think there is no such risk to this election commission.”
Badiul Alam Majumder said that the commission will take the recommendations of the youth to reform the electoral system. He said, “We will take your recommendations from our website, Facebook, email. All in all, we will present the recommendations to the government.”
