Rehearsals for the heating season are in progress, the crews are fixing faults – report it if you notice a leaking radiator

Functional heating tests have begun before the new season. Citizens report problems through the contact center, most often due to leaking radiators. Vanja Vukić, director of PUC “Beogradska Elektrana”, told RTS that they receive about 100 calls a day, and that their workers’ priority is to go out to the field to solve malfunctions, as well as that the season will most likely not start before October 15.

The final preparations of the “Belgrade power plants” system are underway. Since October 1, when the functional tests began, the contact center has received a total of 300 calls from citizens, of which 75 complained about leaking radiators.

The final preparations of the “Belgrade power plants” system are underway. Since October 1, when the functional tests began, the contact center has received a total of 300 calls from citizens, of which 75 complained about leaking radiators.

Director of PUK “Beogradska elektrana” Vanja Vukić, in a guest appearance in Belgrade Chronicle, called on citizens to allow workers access to the premises of substations in order to solve problems, stressing that unauthorized persons are not allowed to enter them in order to avoid incidents.

One hundred citizens report malfunctions every day

Vukić said that during the functional tests, about 100 people contacted the contact center daily, pointing out that leaking radiators are a priority for the workers of “Belgrade Power Plants”.

“Our system is specific because it is idle for six months of the year. When water circulation starts, certain problems and malfunctions occur. The task of ‘Belgrade power plants’ is to get on the field as soon as possible,” said Vukić.

He notes that the temperature in the apartments during the heating season must be at least 21 degrees, and that all energy sources, on the basis of which the price of heating is formed, are provided throughout Serbia.

“If the average temperature is below 12 degrees, we will start heating before October 15. According to the forecast, however, in the next ten days it will not be necessary to turn it on”, concludes PUK director of “Beogradska elektrana Vanja Vukić”.

Don’t work on your own

The crew of the Belgrade Chronicle, while recording the usual day of the master of “Belgrade Power Stations”, was at the building in Majke Jevrosima on 22.

The workers arrived at the reporting site in two minutes, where they found an unlocked substation in the basement, an expansion vessel on the ground, a broken pipe, flooded basement, and water still leaking. The master first turned off the electricity so that no one would get hurt.

The tenant, who was in the substation for unknown reasons at the moment, was injured and was transported to the Emergency Center by private vehicle.

Vladan Pavlović, executive director for thermal energy distribution of PUK “Beogradska elektrana” clarifies that the pipes were broken and adds that within two to three days everything will be restored to its original state.

What happened in Majke Jevrosima is a warning to everyone that they should not do anything on their own, especially not when “Belgrade Power Stations” are filling the system with water under pressure.

While the functional tests are going on, more than 100 teams are on duty every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. When the heating season starts on October 15, there will be more of them, when it will be clear how 35 heat sources and more than nine and a half thousand substations work.
