REN will assess the situation of administrator accused of corruption – Energy

Following the accusation against João Conceição, within the scope of the EDP/CMEC process, REN informed the market that “the Ethics and Corporate Governance Committee will meet to assess the situation”says a statement from the company to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM).

The evaluation will take place after the administrator and committee member REN executive informed the company that, “within the scope of case no. 877/22.9TELSB, known as EDP/CMEC, an indictment was brought against him by the Public Prosecutor’s Office for a crime of passive corruption”.

On Monday, João Conceição, former consultant to former Economy Minister Manuel Pinho, was formally accused by the Public Ministry, together with five other defendants, within the scope of the Contractual Balance Maintenance Costs (CMEC).

António Mexia, CEO of EDP for 15 years, and João Manso Neto, former CEO of EDP Renováveis ​​​​and current CEO of Greenvolt, They were also accused of the “crime of active corruption for the illicit act of a political office holder”, which is Manuel Pinho, accused of passive corruption.
