Today, the specialized jury announced the new Renault 5 (together with the sporty version of the Alpine A290) as the European Car of the Year 2025.
Renault 5 got 353 points, while Kia EV3 is in second place with 291 points. They are followed by Citroen C3/e-C3 with 215 points, Hyundai Inster (172), Dacia Duster (168), Cupra Terramar (165) and Alfa Romeo Junior (136).
It should be remembered that a Renault model won last year, the Scenic E-Tech.
New cars launched in 2024 could participate in the selection. They had to be completely new models and available for ordering until December 31. This initially created a longlist of 42 cars, after which seven finalists were chosen in November last year.
And finally, the winner of this prestigious trophy – the Renault 5 – was officially revealed today at the car fair in Brussels.
The jury normally consists of 60 members from 23 countries.
