Mazda is lord and master in keeping its models current through model year updates. This time it is the MX-30 and in particular the range-extender variant of the electric crossover that benefits from a handful of novelties. The Mazda MX-30 is currently no longer available as a fully electric EV and is therefore only available as a R-EV on the menu. That car is also electrically powered, but the MX-30 R-EV has a rotary engine on board that acts as a range extender. That essentially makes it a plug-in hybrid. With the MX-30 R-EV you can cover 85 electric kilometers before the petrol engine kicks in. The total range is 630 kilometers. What’s new? Here we go. The MX-30 R-EV of model year 2025 is again available in five colors, as before, but is also available in three modified multi-color combinations. New color and material combinations are available for the interior finishes. If you go for an MX-30 R-EV Exclusive-Line, you get black artificial leather upholstery. The Makoto and Makoto Plus versions have white artificial leather upholstery with gray parts. The infotainment screen is now 10.25 inches (previously 8.8 inches) and the navigation software has been revised. From now on you can also connect your Android device and iPhone to the car without a cord using Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Mazda is also fine-tuning the standard equipment of the various versions. Mazda says, among other things, that it has fine-tuned the drivetrain so that it meets the Euro 6e standard. The power remains unchanged and so the electric motor is again 170 hp and 260 Nm strong. The small rotary engine produces 75 hp, but, as mentioned, is not concerned with driving the wheels.
