The Mossos d’Esquadra arrested an arsonist in the early hours of Sunday who had just set fire to three vehicles in Badalona (Barcelonès Nord) and who had done the same to seven cars in Santa Coloma de Gramenet last week. Mayor Albiol is demanding his immediate expulsion from the country “at the risk of being accused of being xenophobic.”
Catalan police have arrested a 42-year-old man accused of setting fire to two cars on Paris Street and a third on Tardor Street in Badalona. At 1.20am on Sunday, the firefighters extinguished the fire in a van at the intersection of Tardor and Guifré. On Paris Street, the warning was given at 2.25am and affected, apart from trees and bushes, a private car.
The mayor of Badalona, Xavier Garcia Albiol, has reacted on social media congratulating the Mossos for the arrest of the arsonist from Santa Coloma de Gramenet. “The guy in question was arrested a few weeks ago for burning seven cars” and added that “now we are going to explain to the affected owners that the author comes and goes from the police station like a pig in a poke” and that possibly “on Monday he will be back to his old ways.”
The mayor reiterated that he would not tire of repeating that “this element should be back in Morocco” and expelled from the country, but “I surely say this because I must be a xenophobe” he said.
