Representative of the major: “The government’s plan is poor… Does Korea have the will to solve it?”

“If the 2025 entrance exam is enforced, it is inevitable that medical school recruitment will be suspended in 2026.”

Park Dan, emergency committee chairman of the Korean Medical Association (Daejeon Association), argued on the 30th, “If the president insists on pushing ahead with the 2025 entrance exam, the suspension of (medical school) recruitment in 2026 is inevitable.”

On this day, Chairman Park said on his personal SNS (Social Network Service), “As expected, the government’s plan is so clumsy. It used to be 5 years, but now it is 5.5 years. If we want to provide normal education, it is right to stop recruiting from the 2025 entrance exam.”

Previously, the Ministry of Education announced that it would allow universities to autonomously approve medical school students’ leave of absence, and that it would allow universities to autonomously design medical school education courses of 5 to 6 years as the number of first-year medical students is expected to reach up to 7,500 next year. However, the Ministry of Education still maintains that it is impossible to readjust the medical school quota next year.

He then criticized Chairman Park and People Power Party representative Han Dong-hoon, asking, “Do you have the will to resolve the issue?”

He continued, “I am curious about the thoughts of a representative who endlessly calls for the ruling and opposition party council,” and added, “If the council were to discuss it, the party leadership would have already decided on its position on the normalization of medical education and suspension of recruitment in 2025.”

He also said, “If you’re still going to just look at people’s opinions and talk nonsense, whether before or now the general election, then I don’t know what’s different from President Yoon Seok-yeol, who is just wasting time and waiting for a catastrophe.” He added, “How long are you going to hesitate? Do you have the will to resolve it?” He emphasized, “Isn’t it actually a strong or weak thing?”
