Several participants in the nominating convention of the American Republican Party in the city of Milwaukee wear bandages around their ears as a sign of solidarity with former US President Donald Trump, who was assassinated last week. TASR informs about it based on a Reuters report.

Delegates wear a bandage over their right ear during the Republican National Convention, Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in Milwaukee.
Trump came to the party convention on Tuesday with a bandage on his right ear, which was shot by an assassin at a campaign rally on Saturday.
“We express our solidarity with him for his injury. We want him to know how much we love him,” said Arizona State Delegate Susan Ellsworth.
Delegate Michael Schafer, also wearing a bandage over his right ear, said the trend is not quite the same as the ubiquitous red Make America Great Again cap. “I think it’s something that’s extremely timely,” he said.
The party’s four-day convention will conclude Friday night with a closing address by Trump, during which he will officially accept the Republican Party’s nomination for the November presidential election.
The entire convention is mainly marked by the assassination of the ex-president, who was shot several times by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks at a pre-election rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. The American Secret Service shot the attacker dead.
