Rescuers have recovered the bodies of 11 miners who died last Sunday after a methane gas explosion caused the collapse of a coal mine in southwestern Pakistan, and one is still being sought, local officials said today.
Safety standards are commonly ignored in mines in Pakistan, leading to accidents and explosions.
Dozens of miners die every year in the mines in that country. Miners complain that their owners often do not even provide them with basic safety equipment.
