Reshuffle in top five posts of Railways, protests over Subaktgin

Chittagong-Dohajari meter gauge railway conversion project to dual gauge director (ongoing duty) Subaktgin has been transferred to the post of General Manager, Eastern Region (ongoing duty). Employees protested at CRB over his appointment.

Subaktgin was transferred in a notification signed by Ujjal Kumar Ghosh, Deputy Secretary, Administration Wing, Ministry of Railways. Two more separate notifications by the same official reshuffled several top posts in the railways.

In the notification, Director of Chittagong-Dohajari meter gauge railway to dual gauge railway conversion project (ongoing charge) Subaktgin has been made the General Manager (ongoing charge) of Eastern Region.

Alleging that he was a friend of Sheikh Hasina’s government, the employees protested the posting of Subaktgin in Chittagong East. They protested at CRB today (December 29) afternoon.

Later, when they gathered in front of the GM East office, the central general secretary of the labor party assured to go there and inform the higher authorities about the demands of the employees. He requested them to go to their respective workplaces. Later the situation calmed down.

On the other hand, Eastern Region General Manager (ongoing duty) Mohammad Nazmul Islam (ongoing duty) has been transferred to the post of Additional Director General (Operations).

In a separate notification, Bangladesh Railway Chief Planning Officer (ongoing duty) Belal Hossain Sarkar has been transferred to the post of Chittagong Chief Equipment Controller (ongoing duty).

In another announcement, Dr. Syedpur Divisional Medical Officer. Anishul Haque has been transferred to the post of Additional Chief Medical Officer (on duty) Rajshahi. Rajshahi Divisional Medical Officer (current duty) in the same announcement. SM Marful Alam has been transferred to the post of Chittagong Additional Chief Medical Officer (on duty).
