Residents of the growing settlement near Vilnius are worried: officially, their road is just a forest road

Settlement in the forest

When driving along the Trakai highway, just after Lentvaris, there is a turn with a direction to Antaniškės. Two kilometers, so just a few minutes on that road through the forest – and a view of the village itself opens up.

It is this road that has been worrying the people living here for some time now. They say that this is basically the only way to their house, but officially it doesn’t even exist.

“A yellow school bus takes children to/from school on this road, specially transport also travels this way because there is simply no other way.

This road is not on the balance sheet of the municipality of Trakai district, therefore the municipality cannot maintain and repair this road,” states the appeal of the Antaniškii community, which it sent to the Ministry of the Environment and the State Forestry Office (VMU).

The community is not very large at the moment – there are 20 households from both the old village and the new quarter. However, the residents have no doubt that they won’t have to wait long and the settlement will expand, because there are really good conditions for that: a lot of developed plots, the place itself is close enough to Vilnius, right here is Trakai, which can boast of lakes.

Therefore, residents are asking for solutions that would allow this road to be legalized.
