I recently actively played the new Black Myth: Wukong (our review), and now I’ve delved into Star Wars Outlaws (our review). And there’s a sea of releases in the fall…
Of course, all this requires a quality monitor that will provide the gaming process with an excellent picture. And here I got a fresh one for review Acer Predator X34which recently entered the Russian market.
I’ll tell you what its pros and cons are.
Briefly
Design and ergonomics. This is a curved 34 inches
The bezels on this model are extremely thin.
What I love about curved models is their ability to immerse you more in games. Because it curves on the sides, it covers a little more of your field of vision.
The monitor itself doesn’t take up much space for its 34-inch diagonal. It will fit on any standard table and leave a little space on the side. For example, I was able to place a compact system unit next to it.
For greater accuracy, here are its dimensions together with the stand: 806.1 x 577.3 x 345.6 mm (taking into account the maximum height of the stand, the minimum is 457.3 mm).
The stand here is a standard V-shaped one. It has adjustable height and display rotation angle (-20/+20). In addition, it also tilts in both directions (-5/+20). In general, you can adjust it specifically for yourself in any position.
The device also comes with a VESA mount 100×100 mm and a Kensington lock.
The design of the device is made in a strict style, there are no bright elements that scream about the gaming capabilities of the monitor. A purely standard curved monitor without frills.
In the lower front part there are two speakers with a power of 5W each. Overall, they sound fine, and are reasonably comfortable to play. But it’s better to connect external speakers or headphones (as is the case with most similar devices).
It’s not often you see such an abundance of ports
The rear panel contains:
► two HDMI 2.0 ports
► one DisplayPort 1.4
► two USB-A ports
► one USB-C 3.2 port (90W)
► headphone output
► USB hub
In general, the choice is rich. Connect whatever you want.
But the main IMBA here is the presence headphone hook on the back of the stand. You can hang both earbuds and full-size headphones on it. If you don’t need it, you can fold it.
Ultra-clear picture included
When assembled, the Acer Predator X34 V3 is a 34-inch ultra-wide monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The maximum resolution is 3440 x 1440 pixels, and the refresh rate reaches 180 Hz. Radius of curvature – 1500R.
The liquid crystal matrix of the screen is made using VA (Vertical Alignment) technology, that is, it consists of three layers: two electrode glasses, between which there is a layer of liquid crystals, arranged vertically, to which the electrodes are attached.
The advantage of the VA matrix is that it provides wide viewing angles horizontally and vertically: the image remains clear and unchanged, even if you look at the screen at an angle of up to 178°. Therefore, such monitors are especially in demand among video engineers, animators, artists and other specialists whose work is related to image processing. But in our case, it is well suited for gamers.
But the main advantage of the new product is the Mini-LED technology, which is used in the iPad. Among the advantages, I will note an extremely rich picture with a contrast of 4000:1 and high brightness of 1000 cd/m². Black is close to true black, although it falls a little short of OLED panels: DCI-P3 color range 94%1 and VESA DisplayHDR 10001.
Convenient monitor activity indicator
Another cool thing is the 1ms response time. A great option for eSports players who value every frame and lightning-fast monitor performance.
VA matrix supports frame rate synchronization AMD FreeSync Premiumdynamic contrast and HDR10 mode, which allows you to see the most saturated colors. In addition, the color accuracy of Delta E <1 allows all colors to be maximally adapted to the human eye.
What bonus chips are available?
This is a special gaming scope.
A feature for gamers: if you select Game Mode in the settings, a sight appears in the center of the screen, just like a drawn one. It is superimposed on games, and can be useful in shooters.
The Acer VisionCare 2.0 suite of features, including flicker-free technology, effective anti-glare coating, Acer BlueLight Shield filter to reduce harmful blue light, accurate color reproduction with a factory-calibrated ΔE<2 deviation guarantee, and a flexible ErgoStand stand, helps significantly reduce eye strain and fatigue during prolonged use. This is especially important during long "skating" sessions.
Great monitor for everyone
Let’s put it this way. This monitor is suitable not only for gamers. It displays any information perfectly, so it can be used for work without any problems.
For example, thanks to the ultra-wide format, the screen can accommodate noticeably more objects, folders and programs. And thanks to the wide viewing angle of 178 degrees, this solution is suitable even for graphic designers, keeping in mind the amazing Mini-LED panel.
For gamers, there’s a super-sharp picture with a gorgeous resolution on a huge screen and a 1 ms response time. What else do you need to be happy? Plus, there’s a bonus headphone hook so they don’t take up much space.
Acer Predator X34 Price in Russia 110 885 rubles. It is already actively selling, and I recommend it to everyone (it’s just better to buy the speakers separately, really).
P.S. For testing I used a system unit Acer Predator Orion X POx-950 с RTX 4090keyboard Predator Aethon 301 and the mouse Predator Chest 310. It turned out to be a good tandem.
