Ring Intercom
This new product is specially developed for the residents of apartments and the like. In addition to taking over the function of the intercom with door opener, it also adds a number of functionalities. The Ring Intercom ‘clones’ the existing intercom, as it were. You do this by connecting a number of wires to the intercom in the house. Ring has made instructions for connecting their Ring Intercom for almost every type of intercom.
The wires lead to the Ring device itself. A square box with an LED and a cover that is attached by a magnet. Under the cover is the battery of the Ring Intercom, which is the same as the video doorbell.
Open with the app
The Ring Intercom is operated via the Ring app. With this you can remotely open the door that gives access to the complex where you live. Via the two-way communication you can also talk to the person at the door. The audio is not recorded, there is a log of the events.
Multiple users
With the Ring app, you can also admit multiple people to the building you live in. There are two functionalities that make use of this.
First, you can set up auto-verification for deliveries. This allows drivers from verified companies to automatically enter the building so they can leave the package. The chances of you doing anything with this are slim, because only Amazon Logistics is currently a verified supplier.
You can also give guests a digital key via the app. This way you can give your partner, family, caregivers access. I can also attach a time frame to it, handy for the cleaning lady who comes every Tuesday at two o’clock.
