A young man named Emon Hossain (17) of Raujan died in a road accident in Hathazari. Five others were seriously injured in the same incident.
On Saturday (October 12) around 10:30 am, Nazirhat Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mofiz Uddin Bhuiyan confirmed the truth of the incident and told Daily Azadi that the accident took place on Chittagong Khagrachari Regional Highway in Buripukur Par area of Mirzapur Union No.
According to police and local sources, the CNG auto-rickshaw carrying Emon Hossain on his way back to his home Rouzan from Maizvander Darbar Sharif of Fatikchari Upazila collided head-on with Fatikchari-bound “Ma Money Enterprise” bus, killing CNG auto-rickshaw passenger Emon Hossain on the spot.
At least five people including CNG driver Miraj (25), passenger Minhaj (18), Raihan (19) were seriously injured in the same incident.
Details of the injured and names of others were not immediately available. After the accident, the nearby people rushed to rescue the seriously injured and took them to the Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty referred them to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital as their condition was critical.
On receiving the information, the highway police went to the spot and seized the killer bus and two CNG autorickshaws (Chittagong Th 14-7997, and Chittagong Th 11-8093) involved in the accident. However, the bus driver escaped after the accident.
When asked, Highway Police OC Mofiz Uddin Bhuiyan told Daily Azadi that the body of Emon Hossain, son of Mohammad Hossain of Satlonga area of Raujan Upazila, was handed over to his relatives without post-mortem.
