Rock camp for girls – Open competition for little rockers

We traditionally dedicate the summer to rocking girls! That is why, with great pleasure, we are opening a competition for a new generation of young rockers! The seventh Rock Camp for girls will be held this year at Rudnik, from August 25 to 31.

The competition for the new generation will be open from June 21 to July 23, 2024.

What is Rock Camp for Girls?

Rock camp for girls is a non-profit program intended for girls aged 11-14 from all parts of Serbia who are interested in rock music. During the seven days of the camp, the participants will have the opportunity to learn the basics of playing electric guitar, bass guitar, drums or keyboards, as well as singing, sound recording, composing, and music production from mentors, young musicians from the alternative music scene. Bands will be formed at the camp, which will create original songs and perform at the final concert on the last day of the camp, in the House of Culture on Rudnik.

Who can apply?

Girls between the ages of 11 and 14 who are interested in rock music and would like to learn to play the electric guitar, bass guitar, drums or keyboard can apply for the Rock Camp for Girls. To participate in the camp musical education of girls is not crucial, as well as owning your own instrument. It is only necessary for the girl to be musical and have a sense of rhythm.

We welcome girls who want to play rock music, but haven’t had the opportunity to develop that interest, and we encourage girls from smaller towns in Serbia, far from big cities, to apply. Girls who are in some way different from the majority are especially encouraged to apply for the camp. No personal characteristics will be grounds for discrimination: nationality, religion, physical characteristics and others. It is important that the girl understands the Serbian language and has the physical ability to play the chosen instrument.

In addition to instrument workshops and joint rehearsals, the program also includes workshops on writing texts, composing, and familiarization with musical and technical equipment. As in previous years, in addition to music workshops, the camp will include a series of workshops on topics such as self-confidence, stage performance, communication skills, as well as discussions about the experiences of active female musicians, women’s history in music and music journalism.

Girls up to the age of 15 can apply for the music production section, as well as those girls who have already participated in the summer Rock Camp for girls in previous years. Through this workshop, the girls will learn how to record and create a finished product – a complete composition or song.

To register for this year’s Rok camp for girls, a parent or legal guardian must fill out the form online application formand for the girl to record a short video (up to 5 minutes) in which she will introduce herself and share her motivation for participating.
