Preparations for the concert of the legendary Australian rock band AC/DC at the Old Airport in Bratislava’s Vajnor on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. The band will be performing in Slovakia on Sunday, July 21. The concert will be part of their European Power Up tour. The arrival of more than 100,000 fans is expected in Bratislava’s Vajnory. AC/DC have named their tour after their latest studio album, and Power Up is their first European tour in eight years.
“Despite the fact that we are not the organizer of the concert and it will take place on private property, we are trying to ensure the best possible access for the concert’s visitors and at the same time minimally affect our residents,” notes Vlček.
Concert visitors are advised to use public transport as a priority and to time their arrival well in advance. The area itself will open from 12:00 p.m. The Bratislava transport company has strengthened public transport connections, including night lines. With the Slovakian Railway Company, the organizer provided shuttle rail transport from the main station to the Vajnory Railway Station and back, which will be strengthened later.
Concert visitors who decide to come by car have secured parking spaces right on the premises. They will get there via a dedicated route through Pri mlyne Street and Rybničná Street. And from the north side from the D4 highway, from Rača also through Rybničná ulica.
“For the residents of Vajnôr, it is crucial that only people with permanent residence here can get to the village by car. In order to speed up the inspection, we distributed a sticker on the windshield of the car to the residents, with which they can get to Vajnôr, directly to their place of residence,” states Vlček, adding that they will be able to use all roads except the Vajnórsky overpass. At the same time, a special line X53 has been set up for the residents of Vajnůr, which will run from Zlaty Piskie on the highway through Crovátsky Grob.
In addition to traffic restrictions, extensive safety measures will also apply. According to the police, they will be aimed at protecting life, health, property of citizens and public order. The police, for example, urged concertgoers not to take pyrotechnic products, cold or firearms, or other dangerous objects with them. Security will be overseen by hundreds of employees of the concert organizer and dozens of members of the emergency services (police, firemen and paramedics). The police will also monitor the traffic and safety situation at the venue of the concert and its surroundings. In case of possible complications, he will guide her.
At the same time, the city district had a request for the organizer in connection with increased noise. The layout of the area is spatially resolved in such a way that the main music production will be directed north, which will minimize negative impacts on nearby residential areas.
