Romanian-born actor Sebastian Stan won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor at the awards ceremony on Sunday, January 5. The list of winners also includes names such as Jodie Foster, Collin Farrell and Demi Moore, and the awards for the best films of the year went to “The Brutalist” and “Emilia Perez”.
The actor of Romanian origin Sebastian Stan obtained his first victory at the Golden Globes for “A Different Man”. In the film, Stan plays a man with neurofibromatosis. In his acceptance speech, Stan encouraged the acceptance and support of inclusive roles. “Our ignorance and discomfort with disability and disfigurement must end now,” he said.
Stan also talked about landing his other recent role, that of former President Donald Trump on “The Apprentice.”
“This was not an easy film to make and neither was The Apprentice, the other film I was lucky enough to be a part of and I’m proud of it,” he said. “These are tough subjects, but these films are real and necessary, and we can’t be afraid or look away.”
Demi Moore won her first Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for her role in “The Substance.”
“I’m just in shock right now. I’ve been doing this for a long time, over 45 years, and this is the first time I’ve won anything as an actress,” she began her speech before launching into what undoubtedly be considered one of the most emotional moments of the evening: “30 years ago, a producer told me that I was a popcorn actress, and at that moment I understood that this was not something I had allowed to do, that I could make successful films, which brought in a lot of money, but that I could not be recognized. And I believed in it.”
At one point, she thought her career was over – until “The Substance” landed on her desk. “A woman told me, ‘Know that you will never be enough, but you can know your worth if you put down the measuring tool.’ So today I celebrate this as a sign of my integrity and the love that it cheers me up”.
Colin Farrell received the Golden Globe for best actor in a mini-series, anthology or a movie made for television on Sunday night for his role in “The Penguin.”
Jody Foster won the award for Best Actress in a Mini-Series for her role in “True Detective: Night Country.”
