Romanian referees take Spain by storm in the Champions League

Romanian referees take Spain by storm in the Champions League. The presence of Romanian referees at a high level in European cups is becoming an increasingly spectacular reality. Although internally there is a lot of discontent, controversies because the former FIFA and UEFA referee, the Greek Kyrios Vassaras, has been at the head of the Referees Commission for a few years, the reality is different.

Step by step, from one to another in the matches of national teams or club formations, with few exceptions, the referees delegated by UEFA or FIFA did not disadvantage us as in previous years. In addition, Ovidiu Hațegan, until his heart attack and then Istvan Kovacs, received very strong matches, a sign of their value and the increasing importance of Romanian referees.

In addition to them, Hațegan remaining only a VAR referee for some time, other referees have taken the step towards the UEFA or FIFA badge and more and more are being delegated to important matches in European football. Only in the coming week we have two referees delegated to the Champions League matches.

Istvan Kovacs will be at the center of the Champions League trophy match. He will lead on Tuesday evening, at the Santiago Bernabeu, the replay of the last Champions League final, Real – Borussia Dortmund, match number 23 for him in the most important interclub competition.

The second referee who will be in action again on Tuesday evening and also in Spain, but in the region of Catalonia, will be the debutant in the Champions League Horațiu Feșnic from Cluj. He will lead the match between Girona and Slovan Bratislava, two teams with 0 points after the first two rounds.
